Supporting Young Artists.
Raising Awareness.
The Addison L. Witt Foundation honors Addison’s life by supporting the next generation of theatre students and helping people understand the risks and warning signs of pulmonary embolism.
Theatre and Arts Scholarships
Helping Students Take Their Dreams Further
Addison found joy, purpose and connection through theatre and the arts. In her honor, the Foundation provides scholarships to graduating Mercy High School students pursuing degrees in theatre or the arts.
These scholarships are designed to ease some of the financial pressure students may face as they take their next step. Depending on the scholarship, funding may help with:
- College tuition and educational expenses
- Theatre, art or design supplies
- Workshops, training and creative programs
- Other expenses connected to a student’s artistic education
Every scholarship dollar is a reminder to a young student that their creativity matters and their dreams are worth pursuing.
Knowing the signs and trusting that something may be wrong can save a life. Awareness begins with a conversation.
Pulmonary embolism can happen suddenly, and its symptoms may be mistaken for something less serious. By sharing clear, reliable information, the Foundation hopes to help people recognize potential warning signs, understand their risks, and know when to seek immediate medical attention.
Pulmonary Embolism Awareness
Helping People Recognize the Signs
A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot travels to the lungs and blocks blood flow. It can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention.
Possible warning signs may include:
- Sudden difficulty breathing
- A faster-than-normal or irregular heartbeat
- Chest pain or discomfort that worsens with a deep breath or coughing
- Coughing or coughing up blood
- Lightheadedness or fainting
Know Your Risk
Almost anyone can experience a blood clot, but certain circumstances can increase the risk. These may include limited movement, recent surgery or hospitalization, injury to a vein, increased estrogen, certain medical conditions, a previous blood clot or a family history of blood clots.
Understanding your personal risk and discussing it with a qualified healthcare provider can help you make informed decisions about your health.
Education Can Start a Lifesaving Conversation
The Foundation is committed to sharing trusted educational resources and creating opportunities for people to learn more about blood clots and pulmonary embolism.
Our goal is not to provide medical advice. It is to encourage awareness, help people recognize when something may be wrong and direct them toward reliable information and professional care.
